The ongoing IPL auction has every cricket fan glued to their television sets or any other medium, eagerly looking forward to whether their favorite cricketers were bought by their previous franchises or whether they have been picked by other teams. The auction has seen some star players go unsold as well. All the teams battling it out in the auction have tried their best to bring back some of their players.

One such team that is trying its best to retain their players from the previous seasons are the defending champions Chennai Super Kings. They have so far picked Robin Uthappa, Dwayne Bravo, Ambati Rayudu and Deepak Chahar who all played for CSK before.

Looking at this, former Indian swashbuckling opener Virender Sehwag took a cheeky dig at the four-time champions. He shared a meme with reference to the Bollywood movie 3 Idiots, wherein the image read: “Jaane nahi denge tujhe, Jaane tujhe denge nahi” which means “we won’t let you go, we won’t let you go”.

CSK splashed money on Deepak Chahar

CSK went on to get back wicketkeeper-batters, Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu, Dwayne Bravo, and Deepak Chahar in their squads for the upcoming IPL season. While they were able to secure Uthappa’s services for his base price of INR 2 crore, they had to endure a brief bidding war to retain one of the most consistent run-getters since their last few seasons, Ambati Rayudu. Rayudu was brought for a whopping price of  INR 6.75 crore. He had a base price of INR 2 crore.

Dwayne Bravo, the 38-year-old all-rounder from the West Indies, still seemed to be a hot pick for many of the sides. Starting with a base price of INR 2 Crores, CSK locked horns with the Sunrisers Hyderabad before the latter increased the bid at INR 3 Crores. However, CSK stayed firm to get back their star bowler as the Delhi Capitals entered into the picture, and finally, after a brief bidding duel, CSK finally brought Bravo for INR 4.40 crore.

CSK also managed to bring back their most dependable bowler in the powerplay overs, Deepak Chahar for a mind-boggling price of INR 14 crore, making him the side’s most expensive pick in the auction ever. It was a three-way battle between the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, and the CSK to acquire the services of the 29-year-old all-rounder before CSK successfully brought him.
