After all the franchises made their respective buys at the last month’s mega auction in Bengaluru, it is now time for business as the IPL 2022 officially gets underway on March 26. The title-holders Chennai Super Kings will lock horns with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the curtain-raiser. While a new-look KKR will be taking to the field with India’s middle-order specialist Shreyas Iyer leading from the front, CSK have also named star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja as their new captain. He took over the reins from the legendary skipper MS Dhoni who had successfully led the franchise for 12 seasons. Both teams would thus be looking to make a statement right away in the tournament opener.

Meanwhile, all the 10 participating teams will be divided into two groups each. The number of teams has increased to 10 with the introduction of two new franchises- Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans respectively.
