The 2015 season was an iconic one for Mumbai. They went on to win their second IPL title in three years. In the final, they were up against a strong CSK squad. While batting first, MI went on to score 203 runs in 20 overs.

As CSK had a strong batting line-up, everyone was expecting them to give MI a tough time. But things turned haywire as Smith was too slow with his approach. 57 runs from 48 balls with 203 runs to chase was way below average from the swashbuckling all-rounder.

CSK could have won the match if players like Raina, MS Dhoni, Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, and Faf du Plessis could have secured some balls to contribute. Smith’s poor outing meant that he never made it to the squad in 2018. His from dipped as well post the 2015 season.
