Dinesh Karthik, in his eventful IPL career, has been a very reliable entity and has played some highly impressive knocks for different franchises. However, in this match by representing Delhi Daredevils, Karthik probably played one of his most disappointing IPL knocks. By winning the toss and batting first, DD had a horrific start as their top-order which comprised of David Warner, Gautam Gambhir, and Virender Sehwag were dismissed at a score of 41.

To steady the ship, even the left-right combination of Paul Collingwood and Daniel Vettori struggled and by the time Karthik arrived, DD had lost four wickets at a score of 55. Now with the situation demanding a much-needed partnership, both DK and the batting all-rounder Mithun Manhas started to build the innings, but Karthik in general mainly failed to rotate strike.

Out of his 35-balls, DK could only fetch a single boundary, whereas his other batting partner was roughly scoring runs at a strike of 90. With DD requiring some rapid acceleration, DK then tried to attack the medium pace Irfan Pathan in the 14th over but lost his wicket, holing out to Mahela Jayawardene. Soon, the entire team got bundled at the score of 111 and in reply KXIP just lost three wickets to finish the game. All in all, DK’s extensive consumption of deliveries and its prolonged number of dot balls deprived DD of at least scoring 130.
