Chennai Super Kings has been one of the most iconic T20 teams in the world since the inception of IPL in 2008. The fan following and the love which they have received could also be because their captain, MS Dhoni, one of the most renowned and appreciated cricketers around the globe.

Until Mumbai Indians won their fourth and fifth IPL title, Chennai was the most successful team with title wins in 2010, 2011, and 2018. However, the franchise, which is owned by India Cements, remains one of the strongest sides in the Indian Premier League and has some incredible records.

Here are 5 unbreakable records of CSK

1. Winning the IPL and CL T20 in the same year, followed by another IPL trophy

After finishing as the runners-up in the inaugural season, followed by a semi-final finish in the 2009 season of the IPL, Chennai Super Kings were looking to roar past everyone and win the tournament. As it turned out, in a space of a single year, under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings won three titles, one of which wasn’t actually an IPL season.

It all started in 2010 when IPL returned to India after a break in 2009, a season that was the first to be held entirely outside the country. After performing well in the competition, CSK was in a position where they had to win their final league match to qualify for the semi-finals. MS Dhoni played an innings of the ages to guide his team into the knockout stages. And the rest is history.

Later the same year, the best teams of the T20 competitions across the globe arrived in South Africa to play the Champions League T20. Chennai proved to be the champions in that tournament as well. Since then, only Mumbai Indians have been able to replicate this winning the double in 2013, but CSK went further and also won the 2011 season of the IPL. With the CL T20 being defunct now, it is unlikely that any other team would be able to replicate this feat.
