The young wrist spinner has been bettering his performances in the last couple of IPL seasons. Following his brother Deepak Chahar’s footsteps, Rahul Chahar too has been producing some excellent performances in domestic cricket. He narrowly missed out on the chance to be part of the World Cup-winning U19 squad of 2018.

He made his IPL debut in 2017, playing for the Rising Pune Supergiant. However, he gained more recognition later as he was picked by the Mumbai Indians in the 2019 season. Mumbai trusted his abilities and played him in 13 of the 16 matches of the season. He did quite well and picked 13 wickets. He did even better in 2020 and scalped 16 wickets as MI’s frontline spinner.

Chahar has also made his India debut at a very young age in 2019 against the West Indies. Wrist spinners are almost a necessity as far as T20 cricket is concerned and playing at Chepauk in the coming years, CSK will definitely need one. Someone like Rahul Chahar can really exploit the conditions there.
