The IPL 9 is half way through and the race to make it to the playoffs is getting intense. Rising Pune Supergiants did no good to themselves by losing yet another game at home against the Mumbai Indians. Despite having 6 defeats this season, RPS still have managed to be at the 6th spot due to a good net run rate. The Mumbai Indians registered their 5th victory and have now raced to the second spot in the points table. Table toppers Gujarat Lions suffered a shocking defeat at the hands of Kings XI Punjab, who are languishing at the bottom. The win, though, didn’t make much of a difference to either teams in the points table.

David Warner continues to be at the top of leading run getters list this season with 386 runs. Rohit Sharma, the skipper of Mumbai Indians, edged past his country mate Virat Kohli to overtake him at the second position. Sharma scored 85* against the RPS and led his side to a thumping 8 wicket win. However, only 2 runs separate him and Kohli and the latter will have every chance to take the Orange Cap back when RCB takes on KKR on Monday. Suresh Raina played a little cameo against KXIP and has made it to the top 10. Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir is comfortably sitting at the 5th spot with 302 runs and he took will look to add runs to his tally against RCB.

Mumbai Indians spearhead Mitch McClenaghan picked up a wicket against RPS to continue his reign at the top spot with 13 wickets. He is followed by his teammate Jasprit Bumrah, who rose to the second spot following a 3-wicket haul against the RPS. Mohit Sharma, too, bagged 3 wickets against the Gujarat Lions to rise to the 3rd spot in the leading wicket takers column. RCB bowler Shane Watson and KKR bowlers Umesh Yadav and Andre Russell will have a good chance to rise up the table when RCB and KKR lock horns at Bengaluru tonight.
