IPL 9 is now getting towards its business end when all teams are closing in to get to the playoffs stage. Rising Pune Supergiants and the Kings XI Punjab are the only teams that are out of the race for the playoffs. All other teams have their chances to make it to the playoffs. Punjab suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore last night and continue to take the bottom spot in the points table.

RCB, on the other side, have jumped to the second spot kudos to their excellent net run rate. Sunrisers Hyderabad continue to be on the top of the points table. The winner of the match tonight, between Gujarat Lions and Kolkata Knight Riders, will move to the second spot.

Mitch McClenaghan continues to lead the Purple Cap list with 17 wickets despite failing to pick up a wicket against the Delhi Daredevils. Bhuvneshwar Kumar rose to the 2nd spot after his 2/32 against the Kings XI Punjab at Vizag. He has bagged 16 wickets so far. Royal Challengers Bangalore’s leggie Yuzvendra Chahal leapfrogged to the 3rd spot after bagging a 4-wicket haul against the Kings XI Punjab.

His teammate Shane Watson bagged a couple of wickets too and is now placed on the 4th spot with 16 wickets to his name. It is the better economy rate of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, that gives him the 2nd spot over Chahal and Watson.
