Details:

Seven properties have been put up for sale the by the Indian cricket board the most important of all is the India television rights. However, the recent clarifications sent out the by the board have raised a lot of questions. The BCCI has urged the television rights bidders to broadcast the feed in at least three different languages but nothing of this sort has been proposed for the internet rights. Besides, the clauses that allow the social media promotion give an unfair advantage to the social media firms that are in the fray for the digital rights.

The Invitation To Tender (ITT) document has been taken by 24 parties but it is unlikely that all of them will turn up in the auction to place their bids. The auction is set to be held in South Mumbai at a five-star hotel.

As the deadline day approaches, there are reports about an international digital firm wanting to form a consortium with an Indian television channel but the parties concerned refused to hold a discussion. Given that the stakes are too high in the rights – considered the single most lucrative property in international cricket – no party is actually is expected to reveal its cards.

However, DSPORT, a new Indian television channel has bagged the exclusive rights to broadcast the ICC World XI games against Pakistan.
