The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has had the most successful run in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchise has been captained by the charismatic MS Dhoni ever since the inaugural season and has turned out to be a brute force for them. They played the first eight seasons and qualified for the playoffs on every single occasion and is one of the most admired teams in the tournament.

They won their maiden championship in 2010 and then followed it up with another title in 2011. They also won the Champions League T20 event twice in 2010 and 2014 respectively. However, the team was found guilty of involvement in spot-fixing and other undesired scandals owing to which they were handed a suspension of two years and couldn’t play in 2016 and 2017.

CSK’s glorious outing

Nevertheless, they made a strong comeback this season and won the title for the third time. Dhoni played for the Rising Pune Supergiant for two years but came back to his old franchise. Chennai were stupendous throughout the campaign and hardly allowed anyone to dictate terms to them.

In the last phase of the round-robin stage, they lost a few matches. Nevertheless, they came on to their own and defeated the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on both times at the Wankhede Stadium to win the IPL for the third time.

Meanwhile, Russell Radhakrishnan, the team manager of CSK, got himself a tattoo of the team, which also displayed the years of their success. He took to Twitter and uploaded the same on Twitter with a message which read, “Finally so pleased about my new tattoo, CSK always close to my heart.”

In the meantime, Luke Wright, the English cricketer, also gave a witty reply to the manager’s post. He wrote

“Hope there is room for a @StarsBBL one soon mate!”
