Ireland do not mind touring Pakistan if 'all stars align perfectly'

"For months, years, we've actually said to Pakistan, when you think it's right, safe to invite us, when you want to, economically or commercially, we are very amenable to an invitation," the Irish cricket Chief quoted.

The cricketing ties between Ireland and Pakistan have strengthened after the recent success of the inaugural Test match for the Irish team. The Irish side played their first ever Test at Malahide against the touring Pakistani team in the one off Test. They lost the game but ended up with some very memorable moments for their piece of history in the sport.

Now, after the successful completion of the Test match, the chief of the Ireland cricket has hinted that the Irish team do not mind traveling to Pakistan for a tour. Ever since the infamous attack on the Sri Lankan team in 2009, the top nations have deserted the prospect of playing in Pakistan. The PCB has been rolling out invites for international tours to Pakistan.

The Chief Executive of CI remarked that he has not received any invitation from the PCB yet. However, if there is a request made any time in the future, they will consider it.

“We haven’t received an official invitation. The chairman of the Pakistan Board was here. I haven’t had a complete debrief with our chairman yet to see whether or not those conversations took place but I wouldn’t even say those conversations even started here,” Cricket Ireland chief executive Warren Deutrom quoted as per the reports in Geo.tv.

‘Amenable to invitations’

Adding further on the same note, Deutrom cited that they have always given a green signal to touring Pakistan if all the security assurances are made. Even now, they do not mind touring the country if all the arrangements are made and shared with them in due course of time.

“For months, years, we’ve actually said to Pakistan, when you think it’s right, safe to invite us, when you want to, economically or commercially, we are very amenable to an invitation. When you send an invitation we presume it’s because you perceive it to be safe enough for us to receive the invitation and then when you give us all the security arrangements around that we will look at that seriously, share them with our players, government, insurers and if all the stars align, we´d be happy to come,” he remarked.
