Ireland vs South Africa: Sisanda Magala ruled out due to ankle injury

After the success in the Caribbean Islands, the South African team will be traveling straight to Ireland for a limited-overs tour. Cricket South Africa on Tuesday announced that they have decided to stick to the same squad for the series in Ireland. Unfortunately, Sisanda Magala was ruled out due to an ankle injury. 

In his place, the left-arm seamer, Beuran Hendricks has been retained from the South Africa T20I squad during the series in the West Indies. Cricket South Africa revealed this information through a release on their official Twitter account. A further update stated that the Proteas squad has arrived in Dublin safely. 

The three-match ODI series between Ireland and South Africa will begin on July 11 at the Village in Dublin. The second and third ODI will be played on July 13 and 16. After this, the two teams will play in a three-match T20I series. The first match of that series will be played in the Village on July 19, before the action shifts to the Civil Service Cricket Club in Belfast. The second and the third T20I are scheduled for July 22 and 24. 

South Africa is in Ireland for the first time for a multi-format limited-overs tour

This is the first time that the South African team is touring Ireland independently. Their last tour to Ireland was in 2007 when they played a few matches against the Irish team and were scheduled for a three-match ODI series against India. The series will also mark the return of some high-profile cricket in Ireland.

Under the leadership of Temba Bavuma, the Proteas team will be quite confident arriving in Ireland after winning the T20I series against the defending world champions, West Indies. In a closely fought T20I series, the Proteas prevailed in the end winning the final T20I by 25 runs and thereby winning the series 3-2.
