Irfan Pathan ecstatic after selection of budding cricketers in JKCA tournament
Pathan was appointed as the player cum mentor of Jammu and Kashmir for the upcoming domestic season.

Irfan Pathan is still rated amongst the brightest talents India have ever produced. He toured Australia back in 2004 and his fervor and oomph to play the sport captured the imaginations of supporters. He went on to pick wickets of batsmen like Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden, who are still deemed to be two of the most explosive batsmen of their cricket, during the tour.
In 2006, he notched a hat-trick in the very first over of the Karachi Test having dismissed Salman Butt, Younis Khan and Mohammad Yousuf in consecutive deliveries. He is more than handy even with the willow with some significant knocks in international cricket. He also plied his trade for Baroda at the domestic level for 18 long years and was their stalwart, rightly so.
Irfan’s journey with J&K
This year, he was appointed as the player cum mentor of Jammu and Kashmir for the upcoming domestic season. The all-rounder will work with Kapil Dev, who is the coach of the team. Pathan’s job has already started as he is in the valley and touring several districts to churn out talents.
The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has organized the first cricket tournament in order to make sure that players, who have the ability to make it big in their career, can come to the fore. Meanwhile, Pathan was delighted to see their boys getting selected in the JKCA tournament and also showed his keenness to train them further.
He took to Instagram and posted a video with a message, which read, “It was a long but satisfying day for me seeing abt 100 kids from Kashmir districts today who got selected playing and performing in Jkca tournament. Some will get picked for another camp going forward and some will get experience.
Looking forward to tomorrow for another group of boys. And ppl who are asking about Jammu. The same process will be happening for all the Jammu districts #cricket #love”
