Irfan Pathan has expressed his disappointment at the fact that people in India are still discussing things like nationality and religion, while ignoring some of the major issues that the country is facing including the safety of women.

Zaira Wasim the young actress of the Dangal fame made a shocking revelation earlier today uploading a video on Instagram in which she narrated a molestation act that she had to face while she was travelling from Delhi to Mumbai on a Air Vistara flight.

Zaira looked distressed while recording that video. The expression on her face suggested that she was completely agitated. She said she was making the video and putting it on social media just because she wanted to stand against the wrong that happened with her.

In the words of Zaira, “I was sure of it. He kept nudging my shoulder and continued to move his foot up and down my back and neck. This is terrible. No one will help us if we don’t decide to help ourselves.”

While Zaira, who belongs to Jammu & Kashmir, has received a lot of sympathy on social media, a few people have tried to associate this incident with religion which clearly upset Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan. The left-arm seamer, through a tweet a few moments back, tried to urge people to sort their mentality and keep religion away from an incident like this which is nothing less than a shame for the entire society.

Here is Irfan Pathan’s tweet:

Meanwhile, the airline Air Vistara has apologized to Zaira and has assured her that they are launching an investigation into the matter.

“We have zero tolerance for such behaviour. We are carrying out a detailed investigation of the incident which apparently involved a male passenger on the flight,” the statement from Air Vistara read.
