MS Dhoni is generally known for employing a calm and composed approach while plying his trade on the cricket pitch. Both his batting and captaincy ability have attributed to a number of victories for the teams he has represented, especially India and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). His tremendous understanding of the game was seen yesterday at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

Yesterday, the Super Kings locked horns against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and lost the game by one run. The contest went down to the wire where 26 runs were needed off the final over bowled by speedster Umesh Yadav. Dhoni didn’t panic by any stretch of the imagination and kept finding the boundaries to keep Yadav and the Challengers, captained by Virat Kohli, at bay.

With eight runs required off the last two balls, MSD deposited Umesh into the stands but missed the last ball. He went for a single, but Parthiv Patel showed great presence of mind to run Shardul Thakur out at the striker’s end. Dhoni ended up notching his highest IPL score of 84 runs from 48 balls. The stupendous knock was laced with five boundaries and seven over-boundaries.

MS Dhoni refuses DJ Bravo singles

During his batting masterclass, he had a number of partners, including Dwayne Bravo, who has played a number of useful knocks for his franchise. Bravo came to bat after Ravindra Jadeja’s dismissal in the 17th over. However, with a required rate of 17, Dhoni refused singles to his partner and later backed his moves, saying that a new batsman would’ve found it tough to get going on a sluggish strip.

In the meantime, Jofra Archer, who’s playing for the Rajasthan Royals (RR), found it funny. He seemed to have taken a funny dig at Dhoni during the course of the game. At the same time when Dhoni didn’t take those singles in the death overs, Archer tweeted some ‘rolling on the floor laughing’ smiley. Archer would be in action during the Royals’ game against Delhi Capitals (DC) in Jaipur.
