While leg-spinner is a very common term in cricket, super leg-spinner is perhaps unheard of. Well, that is what Ish Sodhi can become if all his wishes are fulfilled. The New Zealand star was recently interviewed by an ICC anchor where he opened up on what attributes would he like to have from the other leading leg-spinners who will be playing in the upcoming World Cup. The showpiece event will have quite a number of world-class leg-spinners.

The list will be led by Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan who is arguably the best in the business at the moment. Along with Rashid and Sodhi, there are also the likes of Yuzendra Chahal from India, Imran Tahir from South Africa, Adam Zampa from Australia, Adil Rashid from England and Shadab Khan from Pakistan. Sodhi has now revealed just what would he like to have from the other leg-spinners.

The leggie started by stating that he would love to bowl the flighted deliveries like Yuzvendra Chahal. He proceeded by saying that he would like to have Imran Tahir’s enthusiasm as the latter is known for his energetic celebrations. Sodhi then said that from Zampa, he would like to have his hairstyle before saying that from Rashid he would love to get his googly.

Confidence from warm-up game

New Zealand prepared for the World Cup with a thumping six-wicket win over hot favourites India. The Black Caps made light work of their fancied opponents to register a convincing win. Asked to bowl first, the last World Cup’s runners-up bowled out the Men in Blue for a paltry 179. Trent Boult led the charge by taking 4 wickets in seaming conditions. In reply, New Zealand chased down the total by losing just four wickets.

Speaking about the warm-up game, Ish Sodhi, who bowled just three overs in the warm-up game, said that the team would take confidence from it.

“To beat a team like India in front of a crowd like that, a warm-up game does not get too dissimilar to a real game. So it was really good preparation for us and I think we would take a lot of confidence out of it,” said Sodhi.
