Ishant Sharma is known as a feisty fast bowler, who makes weird faces for striking fear into the hearts of the batsmen. What cricket fans don’t know much about his personal life, except for the fact that he is married to the basketball player – Pratima Singh.

Cricket and basketball, isn’t that a funny combination? One is left wondering how did they meet? Ishant, on his part, did give us some insight on his love story. Speaking on the popular show, “What The Duck”, the Indian pacer revealed how he met Pratima and how it was not love-at-first-sight for the couple. It was at a local basketball tournament organised by a friend where they met.

Ishant stumped

Pratima, who had to miss out on the action on the court as she was nursing an ACL injury, was deputising as the scorer. Ishant, the chief guest at the tournament, was startled when he saw Pratima. Not knowing that she is a basketball player herself, the Indian fast bowler jokingly told his friend that the scorers were pretty here unlike the ones he normally comes across on cricket grounds.

In cricket, there are usually seniors handling the scoring, particularly, at such local tournaments. Ishant’s friend wisely informed him about the situation and that Pratima was a basketball player herself. The Indian pacer tried to initiate a conversation soon enough, but it was only after a lot of deliberation that they started to interact freely.

The 28-year-old also revealed that Pratima only accepted his friend request on Facebook after stalling him for two years!

A thing that the two debate a lot about is which sport is tougher, cricket or basketball? While Ishant is always trying to emphasise that cricket is tougher and more physically demanding, especially for fast bowlers, Pratima took him to court and proved how physical basketball can get unlike a non-contact sport like cricket.
