Ravi Bishnoi has name made a name for himself in the last couple of years all thanks to his brilliance over the 22 yards. The leg-spinner, who burst onto the scenes in the 2020 Under-19 World Cup, was bagged by Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. Bishnoi didn’t take long in making a mark as he bowled one sensational spell after another.
The leg-spinner tends to keep the scoring rate down and his happy knack of taking wickets makes him even more lethal. In a competition where T20 stars from worldwide ply their trade, Bishnoi’s economy rate after 20 IPL matches is below seven. His numbers are even better in the 2021 edition. In six matches, the 21-year-old has picked up nine wickets at an astonishing economy rate of 6.08.
Bishnoi’s last outing was against Mumbai Indians where he dismissed Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav. With Rohit’s wicket being on his wish-list for this season, Bishnoi was pleased to dismiss him. He also talked about his plans of giving Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni a hard time.
Suryakumar Yadav has been the most challenging: Ravi Bishnoi
“Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, and Rohit Sharma are legends, and who doesn’t want to pick their wickets? If my team can win from those spells, it will be great,” Cricket.com quoted Bishnoi as per saying. On being asked about one batter whom he found most difficult bowl, the leg-spinner took Suryakumar Yadav’s name.
“Kohli, Dhoni, and Rohit are are special and great players but for me, Suryakumar Yadav has been the most challenging. So, it is always more satisfying to outfox him,” added Bishnoi. Ironically, the young leg-spinner has given Suryakumar a hard time. Bishnoi has dismissed him twice in IPL and that too in nine balls.
However, the Mumbai Indians dasher is a proven star of this format and many bowlers have become victim of his carnage. This might be the reason why Bishnoi rates the 31-year-old so high despite dominating him in past. Meanwhile, IPL 2021 is in its business end and teams aiming to qualify for playoffs must buckle up. With the remaining league-stage games being must-win for PBKS, Bishnoi would be determined to unleash his A-game.
