‘It is beyond comprehension’ – Salman Butt criticizes MS Dhoni for promoting himself ahead of Ravindra Jadeja

Salman Butt reasoned that Ravindra Jadeja is striking the ball well, and wants the left-hander to face more deliveries with CSK qualifying for the playoffs.

MS Dhoni promoted himself ahead of Ravindra Jadeja in the batting lineup in Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) matches against Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS). And, former Pakistan cricketer Salman Butt is not happy with Dhoni’s decision to do so.

Butt stated that Dhoni’s move to promote himself ahead of Jadeja does not make any sense. Butt further reasoned that Jadeja is striking the ball well, and wants Jadeja to face more deliveries with CSK qualifying for the playoffs.

The former Pakistan opener even labeled the decision taken by MS Dhoni to promote himself as one that is beyond his comprehension.

“Why is MS Dhoni coming before Ravindra Jadeja, who is batting so well? Bravo, Jadeja both are hitting so well. Dhoni will be a mentor, will not play for India, so it doesn’t make any sense of him coming before Jadeja.

You are now into the playoffs, why don’t you give him more practice. It’s beyond comprehension, I don’t know what he is thinking and why he is doing this,” said Salman Butt on his YouTube channel.

MS Dhoni has struggled to get going with the bat in IPL 2021

MS Dhoni has endured a poor run with the bat in the 14th edition of the IPL. The 40-year-old cricketing legend has scored a paltry 96 runs in IPL 2021 and has scored his runs at a poor average of 13.71 and an underwhelming strike rate of 95.05.

Moreover, Dhoni has not even crossed the 20-run mark in the entire 2021 IPL season. On the other hand, Ravindra Jadeja has set the IPL ablaze with his incredible performances with the willow in hand.

The left-handed batsman has plundered 227 runs in the 2021 IPL season and has scored them at a superb average of 75.67 and a fearsome strike rate of 145.51.

The Chennai Super Kings have already qualified for the playoff stage of IPL 2021, and are currently placed at the 2nd spot in the points table, having won 9 out of their 14 matches. In their previous match against the Punjab Kings (PBKS), MS Dhoni and his men were thrashed by 6 wickets.
