India are on their way to create history it seems as they started the four and final Test in Sydney on a positive note. Currently, at 303/4, they are in a position to boss the game and all the credit goes to Cheteshwar Pujara who was once again rock-solid as ever and went on to notch up his third ton of the series. He remained unbeaten on 130 at stumps along with Hanuma Vihari.

However, the foundation was once again laid by the impressive Mayank Agarwal. Despite losing his opening partner KL Rahul early, he kept his cool and weathered the storm. He and Pujara stitched an important stand of 116 runs for the second wicket. Having batted with him twice now in two Tests, Agarwal is all praise about Pujara’s composure and is thrilled with his batting.

“It is just great to watch him (Pujara) bat from another end. He understands his strength and sticks to that. He is very tight with his defence, as well,” the Indian opener said while speaking to the reporters after the end of day’s play.

About the partnership between them

It was once again the partnership between Pujara and Mayank Agarwal which bailed India out of the early trouble. The latter also revealed what they speak in the middle while batting with each other and how India’s number three guides him.

“As far as our partnership on the field is concerned, he keeps talking the things we need to look out for. With his experience, he keeps telling me that you know this is what they (opposition) are looking to do. We keep communicating a lot while batting. It helps a lot,” Agarwal added.

The right-handed batsman was also delighted with the visitors crossing the 300-run mark on the first day itself. He also cited that the first session of the second day will be crucial if India are to dominate the proceedings going forward.
