'It is my second home, have played all my cricket here' - Sunil Narine after being retained by KKR

West Indies cricketer Sunil Narine was retained by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise ahead of the 2022 IPL mega auctions. The all-rounder has been retained for a sum of INR 6 Crores.

Narine has now offered his thoughts on his relationship with KKR. The right-arm spinner said that he has played only for KKR in the IPL, and added that he would love to represent the franchise once again. Calling KKR as his ‘home away from home’, Narine added that he hopes that he can continue to deliver for the two-time IPL champions.

“There’s no other place I’d like to be than KKR because I have played all my cricket here. I would love to continue representing the franchise It’s a home away from home, my second home. So, I hope it can continue,” said Narine in The Comeback King, a short film.

Sunil Narine also added that being called out for his illegal bowling action was a tough period for him. Adding that cricket has not been easy for him, Narine further said that he had to once again dig deep and come back with a remodeled action.

“It (being called for illegal bowling action in 2020) was tough! But at the end of the day, cricket was never easy for me. I had to work for everything I have. So, it was just like another stepping stone where I had to dig deep, work hard and come out on top,” concluded Sunil Narine.

Sunil Narine has featured in 134 matches in the IPL and has taken 143 wickets at an average of 24.53. He has also scored 954 runs in the tournament and has scored them at a colossal strike rate of 161.69. Along with Narine, KKR also retained Andre Russell, Varun Chakravarthy, and Venkatesh Iyer.
