World cricket at this point in time is in a complete frenzy, all thanks to the global outbreak of Coronavirus also known as COVID-19. Multi-team tournaments, bilateral series, and even domestic fixtures are getting cancelled or postponed. And, amidst all of this, one more prominent franchise-based T20 league, the Indian Premier League is stuck on a cliff hanger, with nothing getting clear about what will happen to the league this year and what will be its possible effects on other related things.

Clearing the air on this, the former team India opener, turned analyst and broadcaster, Aakash Chopra, came out and explained all of the possibilities relating to the Indian Premier League. He, on Monday, released a video on his YouTube channel, and talked about this matter in detail, clearing out all of the possible doubts that the fans would have in their minds give the current situation of ambiguity regarding the tournament’s status.

He started off by answering one of the most prominent questions around– “Which is the most plausible scenario for this year’s IPL?” Chopra was straight forward and told that he thinks that it is really difficult to predict what is going to happen with the tournament this year, given the fact that every hour, the condition is developing into something new.

He also added that he thinks that it would be difficult for the tournament to start on the 15th of April and if it happens, it might be held in a single city. But, it is really difficult to say anything at this point.

Aakash Chopra also opined on MS Dhoni’s future

Answering the big question, that was regarding MS Dhoni’s future with the Indian team, which according to the coach Ravi Shastri was dependent on his performance in the IPL, Aakash Chopra told, “IPL was never going to be a yardstick for a player like MS Dhoni.”

He added that if MS would have scored runs, all of the experts would have started rants about picking him up into the squad. But the kind of experience MS brings to the table along with him, and the fact that he knows what he is doing, IPL would anyways would not have been a critical fixture according to Chopra. If MS wants to return, he will and if he wants to sit out, he would do the same.

Picking out the players to watch out for, in IPL 2020, if it happens, Chopra named Andre Russel, David Warner and Quinton de Kock. He also asked everyone to keep an eye out on the likes of Jos Buttler, Steve Smith and Rashid Khan in order to see what they bring along this season.
