Unlike Virat Kohli-Anushka Sharma, Hardik Pandya-Natasa Stankovic, the Ishant Sharma- Pratima Singh love story is not known to many and the reasons are obvious. While the fans do know about Pratima’s basketball background, it would not be at all wrong to say that most of them have very little idea about how it all started between Ishant and Pratima.

Well, the India pacer recently opened up on his love life and revealed that it was love at first sight for him. The lanky pacer has revealed he fell in love with his wife from the moment he saw her at a basketball event in 2011. Ishant said he was certain that he wanted to marry her right from the first day he saw her.

“I saw Pratima at a local basketball tournament organised by my friend, where I was chief guest. It was love at first sight for me. In fact, I knew I wanted to marry Pratima since Day One,” said Ishant Sharma on Cricbuzz’s new show Spicy Pitch.

He further revealed that he started going to the tournament regularly after seeing Pratima. However, he could not muster the courage to approach Pratima in the beginning. And it took him nearly a year to woo his wife before he finally proposed to her. With the passage of time, the love only grew stronger and after dating each other for more than five years, the two tied the knot on December 9 in 2016.

“I started going to the tournament regularly from the very next day. But, I was shy with her at that time. I would not even talk to her. It was only before an Australia series, I gave her a hint that I need to talk to her on something really important. It took me one year to woo her and only after that, I proposed to her, ” revealed Ishant.

A reliable man – Ishant Sharma

Ishant Sharma has become one of India’s most reliable bowlers in Test cricket. He is one of the most consistent pacers for the team in the last couple of years or so. Recently, he picked up a five-wicket haul in the first Test against New Zealand although it came in a losing cause. In November last year, he became India’s first bowler to take a five-wicket haul in pink-ball Test.
