Kolkata Knight Riders have been doing well in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL). While they haven’t been quite a force to reckon with, they’ve done well. They’re placed at the fourth position on the points table, having won four games and lost four. After defeating RCB, they’re looking forward to keeping the winning momentum going.

However, KKR’s biggest strength has been their batting order. The top order comprising of Sunil Narine and Chris Lynn has managed to fire in most of the games. Speaking to the media, Narine spoke about his presence at the batting order and Dinesh Karthik’s captaincy.

I don’t think there’s much of a secret behind my batting

The mystery spinner had surprised everyone with his power hitting skills a few years back at the top order. Even this year, he has continued with his exploits opening the batting for Kolkata. When asked about the secret behind his batting skills, Narine stated there wasn’t much to decode.

“I don’t think there’s much of a secret. It’s been a continuous effort in trying to bat a little more. So it’s showing on the field. Hopefully, I can continue with hard work and get more success as an opener or while batting down the order,” he said.

After former captain Gautam Gambhir decided to shift his base, Dinesh Karthik was appointed as the skipper. Narine remarked that while every captain has his own style, it was a good experience playing under the new leader. He further expected to contribute in whatever possible way for the team.

“It’s been a good experience. I think every captain has his own style. So it’s just about getting accustomed to it and try to give the captain whatever he needs at the point of time and be able to do it for the team and him as well,” he added.
