Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were up against each other in the 14th match of the Indian Premier League. The struggles continue for the three-time champions Super Kings as they consecutively lost their third match in the T20 extravaganza. This has been the first time since 2014, that MS Dhoni & Co. have lost three games back to back.

Batting first, Sunrisers managed to rack up a decent target of 164/5 on the board in the 20-over game. The top-order had collapsed quite early and the team was reduced to a paltry total of 69/4 within 11 overs. However, SRH found a new hero in Priyam Garg and was well supported by Abhishek Sharma. The two youngsters came together and batted for seven overs scoring 51* off 26 and 31 off 24 respectively to take their team towards a respectable total.

CSK again fails to chase the target; KRK takes a dig at MS Dhoni

However, it was yet another painful chase for the Yellow Army. They didn’t get off to a good start as their top-order that included the likes of Faf du Plessis, Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu went back to pavilion within 6 overs with just 36 runs on the board. This is when MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja stepped in to restructure the innings. CSK were already too much behind in the net run-rate and the rebuilding of the innings led to the required run-rate shooting up. All this boiled down to CSK needing 44 runs off the last two overs.

In another twist, Bhuvi got injured while bowling which resulted in Khaleel bowling the 19th over. Thus, Warner had to take a brave call to handover the ball to the young spinner Abdul Samad for defending 28 runs off 6 balls against MS Dhoni and Sam Curran. Samad kept his calm in such a pressure situation and managed to restrict CSK to help the team win by 7 runs.

Despite scoring 47* off 36, Dhoni couldn’t take his team to the finishing line and was once again on the receiving end for his slow run rate which eventually resulted in another heartbreaking loss for the Yellow Army. Also, Thala looked physically spent in the beginning of the last over.

Blaming MS for the loss, the film critic Kamaal R Khan took to his official Twitter handle to vent off his frustration. KRK not only took a jibe on Dhoni for his fitness but also arrogantly told him to stop playing the game since he has grown old now.
