Jacques Kallis, Dale Steyn to participate in Legends League Cricket 2022

The second edition of the Legends League Cricket is scheduled to be held from September 20 to October 10 in Oman with four privately owned franchises. South African legendary former players Jacques Kallis and Dale Steyn have confirmed their participation in the competition this year.

Steyn, one of the best fast bowlers of his era, said that the list of players for the competition is amazing. Kallis, one of the best all-rounders of all time, said that he feels great to be part of the competition and that he is looking forward to play with other legends on the field. The first edition of the Legends League Cricket was held among three teams, which were India, Asia, and the Rest of the World.

“It feels great to be part of LLC and to play in season 2 of the league. I am looking forward to playing with other legends in the field,” Kallis was quoted as saying by NDTV. Steyn, on the other hand, said, “The list of players playing is amazing. We will have some good fun.”

Former players from Australia, England, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will take part in the league. Some of the big names to compete are Virender Sehwag, Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, Monty Panesar, Asghar Afghan, Liam Plunkett, Joginder Sharma and Tillakaratne Dilshan among many others.

Co-founder and chief executive officer of Legends League Cricket, Raman Raheja stated that having legendary icons such as Steyn and Kallis would bring more excitement and “firepower” to the field and entertain the viewers with their performances. 

“Legendary icons like Kallis and Steyn will bring more excitement and firepower to the field, entertaining the viewers with their performances. We welcome them to the Legends family and look forward to experiencing their cricketing magic on the field and getting entertained,” said Raheja.

Kallis, with over 10,000 runs in Test cricket and ODIs each, and also over 250 wickets in both formats, is regarded as one of the best cricketers of all time. Steyn is yet another iconic name in South African cricket, picking 439 wickets in Tests at an average of 22.95 and with 26 five-wicket hauls.
