England’s legendary pace bowler James Anderson is all set to address the media on Monday. Speculations are rife that he might give an update on his immediate future following not so good returns in the ongoing home season. He has played three out of four Tests so far having rested for the second game against the West Indies. Moreover, he picked only a solitary wicket to go with six scalps in six innings this season.

The Joe Root-led side in blessed to have a plethora of fast bowlers in the line-up and the pressure might be increasing on Anderson to perform now. The likes of Sam Curran, Mark Wood are already sitting out while Chris Woakes‘ exceptional all-round show in the first Test against Pakistan has sealed his position for next few matches.

As per their rotational policy, England will look to rest one of their pacers for the second Test starting on Friday. James Anderson, in that case, becomes an automatic pick due to his age and his performance thus far with Ollie Robinson also being called up as cover now.

James Anderson stuck at 590 wickets

A report in Daily Mail stated that the 38-year-old pacer will address the media amid speculations over his future in England’s Test team. James Anderson looked frustrated during the hosts’ three-wicket win over Pakistan last week as he picked only one wicket after sending down 28 overs.

Currently, he is stuck at 590 wickets in the longest format of the game after playing 154 Tests and it is expected that he will reach the milestone of 600 scalps in the series against Pakistan. With the age catching up with him, it seems that the pace bowler might take a call on his future and call it a day once the ongoing home season concludes.

Having said that, nothing is confirmed and the man himself is expected to reveal the details in the press conference later in the day. It will also be interesting to see if England rests/drops him if Anderson decides to hang his boots at the end of the ongoing series.
