Former Australian great Dennis Lillee had on India’s tour of Australia last winter said that pace sensation Jasprit Bumrah reminded him of his one-time bowling partner and another great Jeff Thomson. Bumrah had won hearts of several former players with his terrific show with the ball in the historic Test series that India won 2-1. Now, days before the World Cup is set to take off, Thomson or ‘Thommo’ as he is famously called, has praised the Indian pacer.

Bumrah, who will be one of Virat Kohli’s trump cards in the upcoming World Cup, is in a prime form and Thomson, who gave the batsmen scary times in the 1970s and 1980s, believes the Indian can be lethal enough. Bumrah has been in a brilliant form now and is delivering consistently across formats as well as in domestic cricket. His ability to bowl with a cool head in the death overs has become a talking point for the cricketing world.

Bumrah has got better with more bowling, feels Thommo

“Bumrah is really good. He is someone, more that he has bowled, the better he has got. That’s how it should work,” Timesnownews.com cited reports quoting Thomson in an interview. According to the 68-year-old, Bumrah can burn the opposition with his raw pace.

“He has got raw pace to burn opposition as and when he wants to but he mixes it up. And he is awkward too to read. I haven’t seen batsmen reading him well. He is unorthodox and that’s what makes him different.”

Thomson also picked Kagiso Rabada to excel in this WC

Thomson has also picked South African pacer Kagiso Rabada to shine in the 2019 World Cup alongside Bumrah. The two fast bowlers are expected to be in a tight fight for supremacy in the cricketing world at the moment. The two players will take each other on in Southampton on June 5 when India will take on South Africa in their tournament opener.

Bumrah had an impressive Indian Premier League this year which saw the great Sachin Tendulkar also praising him lavishly.
