One of the greatest tales of rags to the riches, thanks to the Indian Premier League (IPL), is that of Hyderabad pacer Mohammed Siraj, who could not hide his overwhelming emotions while singing the national anthem with the Indian cricket team.

Coach Ravi Shastri, who offered him his international cap, believed that he had a spring in his step prior to the start of the Second T20I at Rajkot, as he bowled yorkers after yorker at the nets. However, things panned differently for young Siraj as he went for plenty on a visibly flat deck at Rajkot, where he faced the wrath of Munro’s and Guptill’s willow.

Jasprit Bumrah came in support for the young pacer who went for 54 runs in his quota of four overs, 26 of which came in the first 2 overs. Bumrah constantly gave pieces of advice to the Hyderabadi bowler during the Kiwi onslaught off his bowling.

“I was just saying that as a bowler when you get hit, you learn. It’s very easy to say that he’s come from here, he should do well. It’s difficult because as a bowler, on this wicket it was challenging and for a new guy to come in against such opposition it’s difficult,” described Jasprit Bumrah according to Cricbuzz.

“I was just trying to give him confidence that it’s ok, every bowler goes for runs, you get hit. But this is how you’ll learn and you’ll come back so I’m sure that whenever he plays more, he’ll be better than before. It’s okay, it was his first game. On a difficult wicket, it’s always difficult,” further supported Bumrah. The top-notch death bowler ended by claiming that Siraj would only get better with his experience at Rajkot.

“He’s coming into the new team so it takes time for a bowler to adjust. He’ll learn. As a bowler when you get hit, you learn a lot so I think after this experience he’ll be a better bowler when he comes into the next match. You can give tips but in the end you are on your own, isn’t it?” concluded Bumrah.
