Jasprit Bumrah made a significant contribution in India’s 203-run triumph against England at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. He played his first match on the English tour after recovering from the thumb injury and showed no signs of rustiness. In the first innings, he churned out the prized scalps of Keaton Jennings and Jos Buttler to finish with figures of 12.2-2-37-2.

He spewed venom in the second innings and picked up his second five-wicket haul in Test cricket. The Three Lions were making a comeback on the backs of a 169-run stand between Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes. However, Bumrah took charge with the second new ball and wreaked havoc by making inroads into the lower half of the formidable English batting lineup.

His release points are a bit different

Recently, Buttler, who scored his maiden Test century in the second innings, praised the lanky fast-bowler from Ahmedabad. The 27-year-old talked about his unique action and referred the same to have added a whole new dimension to the Indian bowling attack. Moreover, he touted the Indian attack as a brute force to reckon with.

“Jasprit Bumrah came into the India side at Trent Bridge and his quirky action does give you something different to think about. His release points are a bit different but India have a lot of variety in their attack – Ishant Sharma has the height, Mohammed Shami has different angles, too. It’s a tough attack to come up against,” Buttler wrote in his column for Sky Sports.

Buttler didn’t have impressive outings in the first two matches at Edgbaston and Lord’s respectively. But his return to form in the erstwhile contest will definitely keep him in a positive frame of mind ahead of the fourth Test, which starts tomorrow at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton. England are 2-1 up in the five-match series with two matches remaining.
