New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham hasn’t had the best of times in international cricket over the past few years. He made his debut in national colours in a T20I against South Africa at Kingsmead in Durban in 2013. In the subsequent year, he made his way into the ODI team and then in 2014, the 27-year old cricketer made his Test debut against India at Westpac Stadium in Wellington.

He has a couple of centuries at the highest level to go with eight half-centuries. However, his career has been marred by injuries at frequent intervals. The same has been a major detriment to his aspirations of donning the Kiwi jersey. Last year, he developed a back injury owing to which he went on to miss quite a few matches. He played his last match for the Black Caps in the 2017 Champions Trophy.

Neesham’s stern reply

He took part in New Zealand’s domestic T20 event and could only play four matches in which he scored 18 runs and picked up five wickets for Otago. In the first-class event, he notched 533 runs in nine matches and also nipped out 11 wickets. He has also plied his trade in the cash-rich Indian Premier League, representing the Delhi Daredevils back in 2014.

Nevertheless, the Auckland-born player hasn’t yet taken part in the Pakistan Super League. Recently a supporter from Pakistan asked Neesham about his chances of playing in the tournament. The fan took to Twitter and wrote, “@JimmyNeesh Would U Like To Play @thePSLt20 ??? Fan From Pakistan Reply Me Plz”.

Neesham spotted the message and didn’t mince any word in saying that he doesn’t wish to play in the event. Rather he expressed his desire to stake his claim back into the New Zealand setup.

Neesham replied and wrote, “I’m not available. I want to play for NZ again.”
