Two of the most impactful current English players – Joe Root and Moeen Ali – recently faced off in a fun event. The two players were seen involved in a running race. The 100 metres sprint saw the two players compete in the dash event. The players decided to take part in the race on the very same day (Saturday, August 5) when the iconic sprinter Usain Bolt took part in the 100 metres race at the World Athletics Championships in London.

In the race at the Championship event, things unfolded on a rather sour note. The race was expected to be the farewell race for Usain Bolt and hence everyone wanted to see Bolt finish off with a win. However, the sprinter from US, Justin Gatlin, proved to be the spoilsport and the party spoiler for Bolt in the race.

The 35-year old American beat Usain Bolt to win the race. However, he was not received well by the fans at the arena as the crowds knew about his doping past. The win was the second World Championship win for Gatlin in 12 years. Interestingly, Gatlin has been banned twice for doping offenses.

Anyway, the race between Moeen Ali and Joe Root was certainly more fun for the fans. Also, it brought some relief to Moeen Ali who has been in the news and social media trends for unusual reasons in the recent times.

The official Twitter handle of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) posted the video of the same recently. They even added a very valid question to ask the fans for their call on the winner. They captioned the video, “Who is our Usain Bolt? @root66 or @MoeenAli? #London2017 #BOLTDOWN.” Well, it was tough for us to decide who the eventual winner was.
