Amidst all the drama at Lord’s, England were crowned the new World Champions on Sunday. They defeated New Zealand in a humdinger of a final on the basis of boundary count after the match and then the super over ended in a tie. It was the hard work of the last four years for the hosts as they thoroughly deserved the trophy and the country is celebrating their victory.

The entire England squad was called up to the British PM Theresa May’s residence on the Downing Street in London after the World Cup win for felicitation and dinner. England had come second in the three finals previously in 1979, 1987 and 1992 but luck favoured them when it mattered the most to win their first-ever 50-over World Cup.

It was all smiles when the players met Prime Minister Theresa. The squad also did a photo session with her. However, while clicking the pictures, Jofra Archer was hilariously seen messing with Jason Roy who was standing just besides Theresa.

Roy tries to give a serious look in the picture

Archer tried to disturb Roy when the latter was trying to give a serious look in the picture. Eventually, the Caribbean born cricketer was successful in his attempt as the England opener ended up giving a weird look and then both the players laughed in unison.

What next for England?

England cricketers don’t have much time to enjoy their biggest success as the prestigious Ashes is around the corner. The Test series is set to begin from August 1 and before that, they will host Ireland in the one-off historic Test match at Lord’s. England’s Test skipper Joe Root has already confirmed that he will play that game while the other players will be rested.

This will be a challenge for some of the other players who are also part of the Test team and they go into the Ashes with virtually no red-ball practice for a long time.
