Ishant Sharma is usually funny because he is the subject of memes and jokes but this time he made a deliberate attempt of being funny himself. Currently, while Team India is on their way to annihilate the Sri Lankans in the limited-overs series, he is spending his time off the field with his better half, in Maldives. Even in the Test series, the long-haired speedster didn’t get a go because captain Virat Kohli preferred Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav over him, more so because they found another seamer in Hardik Pandya.
Coming back to his time off the field, he attempted to crack a joke along with a picture of him and his wife snorkeling in the Maldives that said, “Trying to find some seam and bounce under water.” However, jokes and Ishant have a history and Twitterati is merciless when it comes to that. Various tweets that followed were about comments along with Sharma’s signature expression that became worldwide meme material during the India vs Australia Test series.
This is what the fast bowler said:

The comments that followed were funny, as expected:
Kids practice in swinging conditions
Adults practice on green decks
Legends practice on dead tracks
Lords practice in water ? https://t.co/mu1msKjBWp

Ishant hasn’t played for India since the series against Australia, which ended in March. Even in his last-minute inclusion in the Indian Premier League for the Kings XI Punjab, he remained wicketless in his brief stint of 6 matches. His future in the team is also debatable and would depend on the conditions that India are playing in because currently, Pandya has made it clear that he is here to stay and as long as he does, Ishant’s place in the Playing XI is uncertain.
Particularly because Umesh Yadav has become Kohli’s go-to fast bowler, while Shami is in inspired form. Even if one of them does not play, Bhuvneshwar Kumar will get a go for his adaptability in various overseas conditions. So, for now, our only source of seeing Ishant is on Twitter, snorkeling.
