Mahendra Singh Dhoni is one of the biggest icons of Indian cricket. The former Indian skipper is a highly respectable figure all across the globe. He also holds the Lt.Col position in the Indian Army. You would rarely come across any hatred or disrespect for this man who has earned himself much more respect than runs he clobbered.

The Test series between India and South Africa is drawing to a close. India has already lost the series and is now playing in the final Test at Johannesburg. Once the Test series is done, India will play the Proteas in the limited-over format. MS Dhoni, who retired from the longest format in 2014, is still a part of the ODI squad and travelled to South Africa on Thursday to join the team in the overseas tour.

Dhoni meets some special guests on the flight

The former skipper was not travelling alone to the Rainbow Nation. He was accompanied by Jonty Rhodes and his kids, India and Nathan Jon. Jonty shares a special bond with India. He was earlier associated with the Mumbai Indians for close to a decade. Moreover, he has such a great liking for the nation that he named his daughter ‘India’. His daughter was born in the city of Mumbai.

Recently, the Rhodes’ family is on an all India tour. He visited places like Rajasthan, Punjab and Uttarakhand. He kept updating his trip details on the social media platform. Jonty regularly posted photos of the trip. Also, he shared a picture of his daughter feeding a calf.

Dhoni met the Rhodes family onboard and it seemed as if they had a great time together. In a tweet, the former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes said that his kids, who travelled with Dhoni were in “safe hands”. “There are always feelings of concern when the family leaves after 2 incredible months together, but I need not have feared; as they were in safe hands,” Rhodes wrote in a tweet.

Also, the 48-year-old added that Dhoni took lessons from his kids on how to play cricket in South Africa. “@msdhoni getting some advice from India and Nathan Jon on how to play in SA – he told them “mujhe pata hai“,” Rhodes said.
