Co-owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders, Juhi Chawla, recently opened up on her daughter Jahnavi Mehta and Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aaryan Khan’s interest in the cash-rich Indian Premier League. Both Aaryan and Jahnavi bagged the limelight when they were spotted at the auction table with other prominent personalities.

On their participation, Chawla said that they are ardent followers of the game. The veteran Bollywood actress was happy to see Aaryan and Jahnavi take forward the baton. Chawla also revealed how Jahnavi keenly follows cricket matches irrespective of their timings.

They both keenly follow the sport: Juhi Chawla

“Many little things come to mind. One was, how amazing is nature! In a glimpse, Aryan looked like a young Shah Rukh and Jahnavi resembled me so much!” Chawla was quoted as saying in DNA.

“I was so glad the children are taking a keen interest in the team. They are not being pushed to do this; they are doing it because they truly wish to. They both keenly follow the sport. Jahnavi wakes up at odd hours of the night, to watch cricket matches in different parts of the world,” she stated.

“When Jahnavi discusses cricket, her whole being lights up. I am always shocked at how aware of the technicalities of the sport she is. When I saw the picture of the two of them at the auction, I was so grateful to God that in their own unique way, and with their own free will, our children had taken over, what we had started…,” Chawla added.

After working in a plethora of films together, Shah Rukh and Juhi launched their own production house Dreamz Films Unlimited, in 2013. Though it failed, the two actors collaborated with Chawla’s husband Jai Mehta to buy the KKR franchise.

The Knights are among the most successful teams in the IPL. After Gautam Gambhir took over as their skipper in 2011, the Men in Gold and Purple won the title two times in 2012 and 2014.

But once Gambhir left ahead of the 2018 edition, the team has strained to perform on a consistent basis. Dinesh Karthik and Eoin Morgan haven’t quite been able to make the impact they were expected to.
