Kagiso Rabada roots for his favourite team in FIFA World Cup

The 2018 FIFA World Cup is currently taking place and has already started on a grand note with a few matches turning out to be cliffhangers. Yesterday, the match between Spain and Portugal went right down the wire and kept the audience at the edge of their seats. Brazil are touted to be one of the favourites to lift the prestigious championship.

They are ranked number two in the FIFA World Rankings and will play their opening match versus Switzerland on June 17. They will go into the game with the upper hand based on rankings as their opponents are placed fourth in the FIFA positioning. The team will also face Costa Rica and Serbia in the Group E encounters.

Brazil to wield their magic?

A lot will depend on players like Neymar in order for Brazil to win their sixth title. They last triumphed back in 2002. They had a decent outing in the last World Cup until the semi-finals when they were made to bite the dust by Germany by a rather humiliating margin of 1-7. The fans were left in disbelief as the eventual champions racked up goals at will.

Meanwhile, Kagiso Rabada, a South African cricketer, believes that the Yellow Army can emerge victorious this time around. Rabada has a fair amount of cricket ahead of him. The Proteas will play a two-match Test series versus Sri Lanka which starts on the first week of July. Rabada is expected to be a vital cog in their setup.

As far as the football World Cup is concerned, the pacer took to Twitter and revealed his anticipated winners, while terming Portugal as the underdogs as well. He wrote, “Excited for the @FIFAWorldCup ! I think @CBF_Futebol will take it this year, my underdog team is @selecaoportugal – CR7 for golden boot. However, can’t rule anyone out… should be a thrilling campaign”
