The main story:
Monday came as a surprise for the 25-year-old bowler as she was presented with a framed picture of her with Jhulan Goswami by the ICC. The Karachi-born all-rounder is a die-hard fan of the Indian cricketer and is also one of the most exciting talents in world cricket.
In a tweet posted by the Women’s World Cup official page on Twitter, we saw Kainat posing with her gift from the ICC. The tweet read “We presented @kainatimtiaz16 with a copy of that now famous photo with Jhulan Goswami! Look out for a feature on her story soon! #WWC17”
Kainat also revealed that when Jhulan Goswami was the fastest bowler in the women’s circuit, she was just a ball picker. She also said that she was so impressed with Jhulan Goswami as a bowler that she opted to make cricket her profession and specialise as a fast bowler.
India vs Pakistan is considered to be the greatest rivalry in world cricket and the craze surrounding the encounter will always remain unparalleled. But amongst all the tension there is a bond of love that the cricketers of the two countries share. We saw an example of the same during the recently concluded Champions Trophy. Legendary Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni posed with current Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed’s child just before the final. Ahmed was delighted with the former captain and it was a treat to watch for the fans.
Dhoni, Yuvraj and present Indian skipper Virat Kohli also posed for the shutterbugs with Azhar Ali’s children and Ali praised the Indian superstars for doing the same. It is always heart-warming to see the cricketers maintaining a healthy relationship among themselves despite the epic rivalry between the countries.
