Kamlesh Nagarkoti has been exceptional for India in the recently concluded Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand. The fast-bowler has cranked up a decent pace and has grabbed many eyeballs. He rattled the Aussies in the opening game of the tournament following which he emerged as one of the hottest prospects of Indian cricket. Thereafter, he carried forward his form in the remainder of the event.

To multiply his joy, the Rajasthan pacer also was rewarded with a lucrative deal in the prestigious Indian Premier League. He was bagged by the Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 3.20 crores from a base price of 20 Lakhs. Like every youngster, Nagarkoti also has his own idle from former legendary cricketers. The pugnacious potential revealed Kapil Dev, the former Indian all-rounder, as his idol. He also mentioned about how he wants to take a leaf out of Kapil Dev’s stupendous cricketing career.

Mental toughness for Nagarkoti

“I’ve never met him, but when I get my chance I will ask him how he prepared before every match. His fitness was outstanding and he did not miss a Test through injury, so I will also like to ask him about his training regime and diet. But most of all, I want to speak to him about how one should get mentally tougher” Nagarkoti was quoted as saying in a recent interaction with the media.

The cricketer also talked about his approach towards developing his skills as an all-rounder. “I am working on strengthening my natural abilities and learning the tricks of bowling good slower balls. As batting is also important, I am practicing on hitting big shots,” Nagarkoti added.

Nagarkoti is currently representing Rajasthan in the Vijay Hazare trophy. Nevertheless, he has returned wicket-less in his opening games against Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh respectively. The fast bowler would want to make amends and keep himself in good stead ahead of the mega T20 league in April.
