Veteran Pakistani wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal recently bagged a top honour at an award ceremony hosted by the Pakistan Cricket Board. The PCB Awards 2018 felicitated the deserving players for their outstanding performances in the 2017-18 domestic season. While the social media looked very content with most of the award winners, the Twitterati found it quite funny to see Kamran Akmal winning the Best Wicket-Keeper in Domestic cricket award.

Over the years, there have been quite a lot of jokes floating the social media on the veteran cricketer. There have been a couple of very troubled phases for Akmal in his international cricketing career when he has dropped some sitters. Owing to those lapses in concentration on the field, the jokes have always been around his wicketkeeping. Hence, when he won the Best WicketKeeper award, the social media just could not keep calm.

The PCB also posted a tweet to congratulate Kamran. Since Kamran was not present at the award ceremony, it was Imam ul Haq who took the award on his behalf. “Imam-ul-Haq receiving the award on Kamran Akmal’s behalf for the Best Wicket-keeper Award in domestic cricket. #PCBAwards #TitansGala,” the PCB wrote in their tweet.

It did not take long for the Twitterati to come up with hilarious comments on the same. Kamran Akmal became the butt of all jokes on the social media and started trending as well.

Here is how the Twitterati reacted:

While Kamran’s fortunes with the gloves have not been very great, he has played some seriously good knocks with the bat in the recent times. He was a key player for the Peshawar Zalmi side in the PSL 2018. His last appearance for the national side was in the T20I series against the Windies in 2017.

In other news from the awards night, Fakhar Zaman received a special cash prize of PKR 2.5 million for his recent exploits in ODI cricket. Mohammad Abbas won the Best Test Player of the Year, Hasan Ali bagged the Best ODI Player of the Year (Men), and Sana Mir won the Best ODI Player of the Year (Women).
