PCB announces new central contracts for 2018-19 season

Pakistan Cricket Broad (PCB) has announced the list of its centrally contracted players for the 2018-19 season. The new contracts have witnessed an increase in the monthly remuneration and the match fees for the cricketers. A total of 33 players have been divided into five categories by the board with the skipper Sarfraz Ahmed and Shoaib Malik making it to the top category.

The PCB has raised the monthly remuneration for each category ranging between 25-30% and the match fees are also increased by 20% for the players across all the categories. Accordingly, for the players in the ‘A’ category will receive Rs 1 Million while for the ones in ‘B’ category will be paid Rs 0.7 Million according to a report in ProPakistani. C and D category cricketers will receive the amount of Rs 0.5 Million and Rs 0.3 Million respectively and the amount which will be paid to the new E category players are yet to be revealed.

E category has been introduced in the central contracts for the first time to acknowledge the performances in the domestic circuit which will encourage the development of emerging cricketers.

New financial formula

The 2017-18 season financial year marked the conclusion of the previous three-year agreement between the PCB and players. The board has finalised the new three-year financial remuneration after consulting with the players’ representatives Sarfraz and Shoaib Malik according to The Express Tribune.

As far as the player list is concerned, it was approved by PCB Chairman Najam Sethi after the recommendation of the central contracts selection committee comprising of Director Cricket Operations Haroon Rashid, National Chief Selector Inzamamul Haq and Director Academies Mudassar Nazar.

There are not many changes in the top categories with Mohammad Hafeez being demoted to the ‘B’ category. Babar Azam has made way for him who has been promoted to the top category.

Here’s the detailed list of contracted players

Category A: Azhar Ali, Shoaib Malik, Sarfraz Ahmed, Yasir Shah, Babar Azam and Mohammad Amir.

Category B: Mohammad Hafeez, Faheem Ashraf, Asad Shafiq, Hasan Ali, Fakhar Zaman and Shadab Khan.

Category C: Mohammad Abbas, Wahab Riaz, Junaid Khan, Haris Sohail, Imamul Haq, Muhammad Nawaz, Usman Khan Shinwari, Shaan Masood and Imad Wasim.

Category D: Rumman Raees, Asif Ali, Rahat Ali, Usman Salahuddin and Hussain Talat.

Category E: Bilal Asif, Saad Ali, Muhammad Rizwan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Sahibzada Farhan, Umaid Asif and Mir Hamza.
