Out-of-favour Pakistan wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal is once again become the butt of all jokes on social media thanks to yet another blunder from him on the cricket field. Time and again, he has faced criticism and trolls on social media because of his poor wicketkeeping technique and he did himself no favour by dropping a sitter  in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Peshwar Zalmi were up against Quetta Kings on Thursday when Kamran Akmal spilled the catch to give Sohail Khan a reprieve. Fortunately for Kamran and Zalmi, the miss did not turn out to be costly as they won the game by 30 runs. The incident happened in the penultimate over of the match that was reduced to 15-over per side.

Sohail Khan hit a delivery from Hasan Ali straight into the air and Kamran had plenty of time to settle under the ball and take the catch. But to everyone’s surprise, the veteran wicketkeeper failed to catch the ball.

Here is a clip of that miss from Kamran Akmal:

Peshawar Zalmi register win

Talking about the game, Peshawar Zalmi beat Quetta Gladiators by 30 runs thanks to an impressive fifty from veteran Shoaib Malik. Gladiators captain Sarfaraz Ahmed won the toss and decided to bowl first but his bowlers failed to justify the decision. Their miseries were further compounded by an injury to Naseem Shah, who conceded just six runs across the first and third overs before walking off the field.

Barring Shah, nobody else in the Gladiators lineup went for less than 11 per over as Zalmi piled up 170 for 6 in the allotted 15 overs. Kamran Akmal gave the team a flying start by blasting 23 off 12 at the top of the order before Malik took charge.  The former Pakistan captain slammed 54 from just 27 balls to propel Zalmi to a big total.

Haider Ali also played a handy knock of 39 while Mohammad Hasnain was the pick of the bowlers for Gladiators with figures of 4 for 34. In reply, Gladiators ended up on 140 for 7. Barring opener Jason Roy, who scored 45, no other batsmen managed to show much of a fight. Wahab Riaz was the pick of the bowlers for Zalmi, picking up 3 for 21.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to Kamran Akmal’s blunder
