Team India faced a dismaying defeat against New Zealand in their second fixture of the T20 World Cup 2021. The India batting legend Sachin Tendulkar has thus praised Kane Williamson for controlling the game well. Both the teams had entered the contest in what was a crucial game for them.

Both India and New Zealand had lost their previous encounters with Pakistan and a victory here was pivotal for them. The Kiwis displayed great promise with the ball. They restricted India to a total of just 110 runs. Tendulkar thus stated that the pressure created by the opposition tempted the Indian batters to play big shots. He also heaped praises on the Black Caps and termed Williamson as the rock of the team.

“All in all, I felt India was playing a catching of game because how New Zealand dominated the game it was a tough time for India batsmen which forced them to play the big shot. Then Daryl Mitchell and Williamson stitched an important stand. Williamson is like a rock for the New Zealand team if he is on a wicket he controls the game well. Mitchell played some decent shots and rotated the strikes,” Tendulkar said in his Facebook video.

Sachin Tendulkar explains the reason behind team India’s loss

In the first game against Pakistan, India experienced a batting collapse. The scripts did not change in this game as well as the Indian batters found it difficult to hold the fort of the side. Tendulkar highlighted the fact that the team wasn’t able to fetch in crucial runs between the sixth and tenth over. According to him, this was the critical point of the match as the batters weren’t able to capitalize their innings.

“From the ball one, the bowling changes of Williamson were top notch. The planning was good and in the first six overs we were 35/2 and from those 35 runs, the 20 came in five overs. After six overs till 10th over we only scored 13 runs, so according to me that was a critical point where we missed out on capitalizing. Those easy singles were not available and that forced our batters to play the big shot,” Tendulkar added
