Kannada actor and cricketer Dhruv Sharma passes away

Kannada actor Dhruv Sharma passed away on Tuesday morning. He is survived by his parents, wife and 2 daughters. Sharma was a key player for Karnataka Bulldozers in the non-professional men’s cricket league: Celebrity Cricket league (CCL). He was rushed to the hospital after he collapsed at his house on Saturday.

Dhruv succumbed to a cardiac arrest

It is been said that due to some personal problems and financial issues, Dhruv tried committing suicide. He was admitted to Columbia Asia hospital since Saturday and succumbed to a cardiac arrest and multiple organ failures. He breathed his last at 3 AM on Tuesday and a post-mortem is being carried out at MS Ramaiah Hospital.

Dhruv was a talented actor and a skilled cricket player. He was deaf and mute but used his lip-syncing skills to act in movies. He played lead roles in movies like Snehanjali, Tippajji Circle and Hit List.

Dhruv was a fine cricketer in CCL

On the cricket field, he was often praised by his skipper Kichcha Sandeep for his aggressive batting style. He turned up for Karnataka Bulldozers for all six seasons of the CCL and was also the vice-captain of the team. His team won 2 titles consecutively in 2013 and 2014 and ended up being runners up on three occasions, the last one in 2016. On the other occasion, they played the semifinals before getting knocked out of the tournament. The Bulldozers remain the only team to have qualified for the knockout stages in all six seasons of the CCL.

Dhruv’s untimely death comes as a shock to his contemporaries as well as his team mates at the CCL, who hailed him as the fittest member of their team. His last rites will be held as per Veerashaiva tradition at Kubrahalli in Bengaluru at 4 PM on Tuesday, as per IB Times reports.
