Kanpur man loses his wife in IPL gambling

According to a report in ANI, a man from Kanpur lost his wife at gambling during the IPL season. The state of Uttar Pradesh has been in news for wrong reasons during this edition of the IPL and this bizarre situation is one another example of it.

As per the report, the man named Ravinder Singh, was deeply into gambling and had lost all his valuables due to his habit. With nothing left to put at stake, he decided to put his wife in the gambling arena and apparently lost her in the bet. The men, to whom he lost the bet, started harassing his wife named Jasmeet Kaur.

Angered and shocked, his wife moved to the city police to report the incident and ask for help. She received some good help from the Social activists who helped her get out of trouble. Only after she reported the incident to police, the news of Ravinder Singh from Govind Nagar area in Kanpur putting his wife at stake in gambling came to the front news.

The report further says that the couple had married almost five years ago and did not have a fruitful relationship since the man had asked for all valuables and jewellery from his wife so that he could put it in gambling. Suffering huge losses at gambling and share market, the man was left with very less in his own hands. The police have now registered the case and said the matter is a serious offence.

Apparently, comparisons were being drawn between the incident and the one from mythological epic Mahabharata where the King Yudhistira had lost his wife Draupadi in gambling after he had put her at stake. The modern day version of the story is quite disgusting though and one could only hope for things to get better from here for the lady.
