The former Indian captain Kapil Dev feels that Virat Kohli should play County Cricket in England in order to score a lot of runs in the country. The current skipper of the Men in Blue has only one chink in his armoury which is not being able to score runs heavily in England. He plundered South African bowling attack across all formats in their own den recently and will be itching to get going. However, Kapil is of the opinion that there is no harm in Kohli playing County cricket in order to become the best player in the World.

India is all set to travel England in June this year after a hectic IPL season for 3 T20Is, 3 ODIs and 5 Test matches and will be in the country until September. More importantly, they will also be playing two-match T20I series against Ireland ahead of the tour which will help them acclimatise to the conditions. Also, it will be a huge series for Kohli as a captain who is yet to score significantly in the longest format of the game in England.

Practice makes man perfect

Kapil Dev has cleared that Virat Kohli will have to feature in a couple of County seasons to adapt to the adverse conditions in the country. If he can get it and if he can keep on playing there, I think it always helps. Practice makes a man perfect; one has to practice to those conditions. What we’re seeing, with his temperament, I think he’s good enough (to score runs in England). It all depends if he gets a good start. He has the ability,” he was quoted as saying by Daily Mail.

Dev also felt that a batsman has to score runs in the toughest conditions to be crowned as the best in the World. “If he can play a season or two in English county cricket there would be nothing wrong (with that) because if you want to be the best player in the world you have to get runs everywhere. Virat Kohli, the question mark, is in front of him, it’s there. He has to get runs where it is considered to be the toughest conditions in the world,” the former Indian legend added.
