August 5, 2019 marked a historic day for India. The Indian Government took a bold step to scrap Article 370 and the special status of Jammu Kashmir was removed. The bill expected to be easily passed in Lok Sabha as well, like it did in the Rajya Sabha. The state of Jammu and Kashmir will now cease to exist and it will be replaced by two Union Territories; Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

While there was criticism from a few, many backed the government’s decision. The cricketer turned politician Gautam Gambhir has also welcomed the move and has praised the top brass of his party Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP). He was elated after the decision was made and claimed that the BJP has done what many couldn’t do over all these years since India’s independence.

Gautam Gambhir is known to not mince his words and speak his mind. Even in this case he was chuffedand put out a tweet stating the Indian flag will be flying high in Kashmir as well now. He also mentioned Narendra Modi and Amit Shah in the tweet who were the two main decision makers in this aspect.

Here’s his tweet:

Gambhir in politics

Gautam Gambhir retired from all the forms of the game earlier this year with a heavy heart. Amidst all the speculations, he entered politics and contested the elections for the BJP. He contested the elections from the East Delhi constitution and came up trumps comfortably against AAP’s Atishi and Congress’ Arvinder Singh Lovely.

Just like he has done it on the field for Team India, Gambhir is now expected to work for the people of the country and is every now and then keeping his followers updated about his work. No wonder the southpaw will give his 100 percent in the second innings of his life as well and he has taken the step in the right direction at the moment.
