India scripted history at the MCG on Friday as they registered their first ever ODI bilateral series win in Australia. After being one down at Sydney, the Men in Blue staged a phenomenal comeback to win the series 2-1. The One Day International series has been quite captivating with both teams giving their best and every match went down the wire.

The decider turned out to be another spectacular game. After Virat Kohli‘s dismissal, the onus fell upon the middle order to guide India home. With the visitors still requiring 118 runs more to win the game, MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav stitched a brilliant unbeaten partnership to take the team through.

The required run-rate rocketed to nine at one stage but with wickets in hand, that wasn’t an issue. Moreover, with Dhoni at the helm, he looked the most comfortable in the last five overs, the phase of the game, which he owns even in the twilight of his illustrious career.

Kedar lauds Mahi for a great series

MS Dhoni has often been regarded as a mentor in the Indian team. Time and again, right from Virat Kohli to Rohit Sharma, every teammate has shared his influence in the fold. It was no different for Kedar as he took to Twitter to express his gratitude towards the veteran. He cherished sharing the crease with the former captain in what turned out to be a match-winning partnership for the team.

“Great series Mahibhai @msdhoni Always get to learn a lot from you. Thank You for guiding me yesterday also. Keep entertaining us all,” Kedar tweeted.

Here’s the tweet:

For a long time, India has been facing problems with regard to its middle-order batting conundrum. Kedar Jadhav has been an in-and-out feature in the team for some time now. However, his fifty in this game gives him an edge above the others in contention. For that, he will need to keep his fitness in check.

As for MS Dhoni, after facing heavy criticism at the start of the series, he finished things in style. He was also rewarded the Man of the Series for his three consecutive fifties. While there have been no aspersions cast on his glovework, his batting form had taken a hit in 2018 where he failed to record a single half-century.
