The very closely contested league encounter between the Rising Pune Supergiant and Mumbai Indians in IPL 2017 saw some excellent brand of cricket in all three departments of the game. But the moment of the game that caught the attention of all the fans was an epic exchange of words between MS Dhoni and Kevin Pietersen. It was during the Mumbai Indians batting innings when the exchange of words took place.
It was not a direct communication but via RPS player Manoj Tiwary. Tiwary was on the mic and was talking to the commentators during the early stages of the innings. Kevin Pietersen was in the commentary box and had a special message for RPS wicketkeeper MS Dhoni. He asked Tiwary to pass on a message to Dhoni.
He asked Tiwary to tell Dhoni that KP is a better golfer than Dhoni. He said, “Can you do me a favour? Can you just whisper MS that I’m a better golfer than him.” Tiwary was quick to convey the message to his teammate and was heard saying, “Kevin Pietersen bolra hai ki vo apse better Golfer hai (Kevin Pietersen is saying that he is a better golfer than you).”
Dhoni was very witty as he quickly chirped with a reply to troll KP. He reminded KP that his first Test wicket still remains to be KP. “He is still my first Test wicket,” said Dhoni. Soon after the first innings ended, Kevin Pietersen took to social media to respond back to Dhoni’s comment. He appreciated how light-hearted Dhoni is on the mic. He, however, maintained that he is a better golfer.
