Southern Stars, who finished at the bottom of the league in 2018, bounced back with a big win in the opening game of the tournament. They thumped Lancashire Thunder in Liverpool by a 34-run margin. Danielle Wyatt (54) and Tammy Beaumont (43) scored half-centuries as the Vipers finished with 166/7 despite losing late wickets. The Thunder team were reduced to only 132/10 in 19.4 overs.
They will now tour Loughborough to face the hosts Loughborough Lightning. They went down without a fight against Western Storm in the first match. The target of 126 set by them was chased down in only 17 overs with seven wickets in hand. One of the major factors that contributed to their defeat was the start they got. Loughborough lost three wickets in their first three overs including International stars.
The 5th match of the Kia Super League 2019 will be played between Loughborough Lightning and Southern Vipers at the Haslegrave Ground in Loughborough.
The match starts at 4:00 PM local time (8:30 PM IST) (3:00 PM GMT).
This game will be streamed live on Loughborough Lightning’s match centre.
The temperatures in Loughborough on Thursday suggest dry conditions during the game. However, the weather could be cloudy but without any showers. The chances of the shower begin from 8 PM local time but the game is expected to finish before 7:30 PM.
During the first day of the tournament, the track at the Haslegrave Ground was little sticky early on that saw Loughborough Lightning lose three wickets in three overs. It looked as if the track got better with the game progressed.

While the spotlight is expected to be on the batters and all-rounders, the likes of Tash Farrant and Kirstie Gordon among the bowlers are expected to shine. Farrant took a couple of wickets in the previous game while Gordon was the previous edition’s leading wicket-taker.

Only one player from each set can be picked in the fantasy XI.
Southern Vipers are expected to continue their winning momentum.
